Jakarta, ThedailyID — A buffalo in Bangladesh recently went viral ahead of Eid al-Adha after many people said the animal resembled Donald Trump.
The massive 680-kilogram buffalo was originally prepared for sale as a sacrificial animal before public attention shifted toward its blond hair, which many compared to Trump’s signature hairstyle.
Ziauddin Mridha, the farmer who bought the buffalo several months ago, said his younger brother gave the animal the nickname “Donald Trump” because of its appearance.
According to Mridha, the story quickly spread online and attracted large crowds to his farm in Narayanganj near Dhaka. Many visitors reportedly came just to see the buffalo in person and take photos.
Mridha also explained that the buffalo has a calm personality and requires constant care, including regular baths.
Meanwhile, the viral attention eventually led authorities to cancel plans for the animal’s slaughter.
According to reports from Reuters, Home Affairs Adviser Salahuddin Ahmed ordered officials to save the buffalo. Authorities later decided to refund the buyer, while the buffalo would be transferred to the national zoo in Dhaka.
Officials said the decision came at the last moment because of security concerns and overwhelming public interest surrounding the animal.
The unusual case quickly became a viral topic across social media platforms, especially as Eid al-Adha celebrations approached.
This also was not the first time people compared animals to Trump. Previous viral comparisons included a golden pheasant in China and a frogfish in the United Kingdom.
