Jakarta, ThedailyID — Marking Hari Pendidikan Nasional (National Education Day), Bank Mandiri reinforced its commitment to accelerating financial inclusion and literacy among students across Indonesia.
Through its Simpanan Pelajar (SimPel) program, the bank continues to expand access to financial services while building long-term financial awareness. The initiative goes beyond opening accounts, as it encourages saving habits and shapes financial behavior from an early age.
Corporate Secretary Adhika Vista said the program reflects the company’s broader mission to support future-ready generations. SimPel is integrated with financial education programs, partner school networks, and research-based approaches to ensure relevance and sustainability.
As of December 2025, SimPel accounts reached 928,000, growing 19.6% year-on-year. Growth remained steady in 2026, with 966,000 accounts recorded by March, up around 12% compared to the previous year.
Total savings stood at Rp354 billion, with an average balance of Rp366,000 per account. The figures indicate rising awareness of saving among students, particularly at the senior high school level, which contributes 64% of total users.
Regionally, East Java recorded the highest participation, highlighting the program’s strong reach beyond major urban centers. The bank continues to expand access across education levels, from kindergarten to high school.
At the same time, Bank Mandiri emphasized that access must go hand in hand with education. Throughout 2025, the company conducted financial literacy programs in universities, reaching over 1,000 students.
In 2026, its “Mandirian Mengajar” program expanded further, reaching nearly 10,000 participants across education levels. The initiative recorded a 47% increase in financial understanding, reflecting its measurable impact.
Beyond literacy, the bank also supports education infrastructure. It renovated 27 schools across Indonesia, improving classrooms, sanitation, and learning facilities, while also establishing reading corners to promote literacy.
In addition, Bank Mandiri distributed 267 scholarships and more than 26,000 school supply packages between December 2025 and March 2026. The support included disaster-affected areas and regions across Bali and Nusa Tenggara.
This year, the bank plans to distribute over 2,800 additional school kits across 12 regions. The effort aims to strengthen students’ readiness and support equal access to education.
All initiatives are designed as an integrated ecosystem that combines financial products, education, and collaboration. Bank Mandiri believes that true financial inclusion requires not only access, but also the mindset and readiness to face the future.
