1. Anak Krakatau

Mount Anak Krakatau has erupted several times since Friday (04/09) night. On Sunday, another eruption occurred at 07:10 WIB.

The eruption lasted 16 seconds. It also produced a maximum seismograph amplitude of 50 millimeters.

“An eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 07:10 WIB. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 50 mm and a duration of 16 seconds.” The Geological Agency of Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reported, Sunday (06/09/26).

Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) tracked the volcanic ash using information from PVMBG, VAAC Darwin and Himawari-9 satellite imagery.

BMKG identified two main directions for the ash. The first plume moved northeast and south toward parts of Jakarta, Banten and West Java.

The second plume moved southwest and northwest. It reached parts of Banten, Lampung and Bengkulu. The ash also spread over the southern Sunda Strait and the Indian Ocean west of Bengkulu, Lampung and Banten.

2. Mount Ibu Erupts in North Maluku

Next, Mount Ibu in North Maluku erupted at 04:55 WIT on Sunday.

The eruption sent an ash column about 400 meters above the summit. That height equals around 1,725 meters above sea level.

The Geological Agency described the ash as gray with moderate intensity. It moved toward the northeast.

The eruption lasted 35 seconds. During that time, the seismograph recorded a maximum amplitude of 15 millimeters.

3. Ili Lewotolok

Meanwhile, Mount Ili Lewotolok in Lembata, East Nusa Tenggara, recorded several eruptions over the past 48 hours.

Its strongest eruption occurred at 06:41 WITA on Sunday. The ash column rose about 600 meters above the summit, reaching around 2,023 meters above sea level.

The thick gray ash moved toward the southeast. The eruption lasted 82 seconds and reached a maximum seismograph amplitude of 40 millimeters.

4. Semeru Erupts

Finally, Mount Semeru in East Java erupted at 07:51 WIB on Sunday.

The eruption produced an ash column around 1,000 meters above the summit. The seismograph recorded a maximum amplitude of 23 millimeters.

The Geological Agency urged residents to avoid activities in the southeastern sector along Besuk Kobokan. The restriction covers an area up to 13 kilometers from the summit, which is the eruption center.

Furthermore, residents outside that zone should stay at least 500 meters away from the riverbanks along Besuk Kobokan. The agency warned that pyroclastic flows and lahars could travel as far as 17 kilometers from the summit.
