Jakarta, ThedailyID — XLSMART is strengthening its 5G network across Medan, Binjai and Deli Serdang, with more than 1,000 5G base transceiver stations (BTS) supporting the areas.
The expansion comes as demand for faster and more reliable digital connectivity continues to grow across North Sumatra. Overall, XLSMART now operates more than 15,000 BTS across the province.
Nationally, the company’s network is supported by more than 265,000 BTS serving over 69.4 million customers. Its 5G network has also reached more than 50 cities and regencies across Indonesia.
The company said the network expansion is designed to increase capacity and improve customers’ connectivity experience as data traffic continues to rise.
“Growth in 5G adoption shows that people increasingly need connectivity with the capacity and quality to support a wider range of digital activities,” said Astiyanto Tri Muktiwibowo, Group Head Marketing Segment SMARTFREN XLSMART, Monday (31/08).
“Through Unlimited 5G, we want to make the benefits of 5G technology easier to experience for people across Indonesia, including those in North Sumatra,” he added.
Unlimited 5G offers customers unlimited speed and data quota while connected to the XLSMART 5G network, using a compatible device and an active package. The service can reach speeds of up to 500 Mbps, depending on network conditions, device, location and traffic.
The packages are available with 7-day, 14-day and 28-day validity periods. Customers can use the service for activities including streaming, gaming, video calls, work, learning and live streaming.
XLSMART also received four Ookla Speedtest Awards in the first half of 2026, including Best Mobile Network in Indonesia 2026 and Best 5G Network in Indonesia 2026.
