US-Iran Conflict Intensifies as Tehran Reports Strikes on 7 Cities

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Iran said the United States struck at least seven cities on Sunday, July 12, as fighting between the two countries intensified.

State news agency IRNA, citing a provincial official in Bushehr, said U.S. forces targeted five cities in the southern province. The cities include Asaluyeh, Dir, Bushehr, Dashti, and Tangestan.

Bushehr sits along Iran’s southern coast and has repeatedly come under attack during the conflict. Iranian officials said earlier strikes damaged civilian infrastructure, including areas near the Bushehr nuclear power plant.

Officials also reported attacks near the city of Veysian in Lorestan Province, western Iran.

Saeed Pourali, deputy governor for political, security, and social affairs, told state broadcaster IRIB that the strike caused no casualties. He added that authorities had restored normal conditions in the area.

IRNA also reported that projectiles struck a facility in Khondab, western Iran, on Sunday morning. Authorities are still assessing casualties and property damage.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that Iran launched attacks on several U.S. military sites across the Gulf. The attacks prompted residents in neighboring countries to seek shelter.

According to IRIB, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired ballistic missiles at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The broadcaster also said the IRGC struck logistics facilities and refueling platforms supporting U.S. naval vessels at the Port of Duqm in Oman.

Iranian forces also launched reconnaissance drones toward U.S. military assets in Kuwait, including Patriot air defense systems. In Bahrain, Iran claimed it targeted U.S. communication systems and radar installations linked to the U.S. Fifth Fleet.

Qatar and Kuwait said their air defenses intercepted incoming attacks on Sunday morning. Bahrain activated warning sirens and urged residents to move to the nearest safe locations.

The IRGC also claimed it destroyed drone storage facilities at Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan.

The latest escalation followed Iran’s attack on a Cyprus-flagged container ship in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, July 11. Iran accused the vessel of violating an approved shipping route. The United States responded with retaliatory strikes early Sunday.
