Jakarta, ThedailyID — US President Donald Trump reported earning US$10.71 million from the documentary about First Lady Melania Trump, according to his 2025 financial disclosure released to the public.

The income came from licensing rights paid by Amazon MGM Studios to produce and distribute the documentary. The payment was listed among Trump’s disclosed sources of revenue for 2025.

According to Variety, Amazon acquired the documentary rights for US$40 million. The company also spent an additional US$35 million on marketing and promotional campaigns.

The documentary generated approximately US$16.6 million at the global box office before becoming available on Prime Video.

However, the licensing agreement quickly drew political criticism. Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren accused Amazon of paying an unusually high price to gain political influence with the Trump administration.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos rejected the allegation. He said the agreement was a commercial decision based solely on business considerations rather than politics.

Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video chief Mike Hopkins also defended the acquisition. He said multiple bidders competed for the documentary and described its theatrical and streaming performance as strong. Amazon plans to release a follow-up documentary later this year.

The financial filing also revealed additional Melania-related income. Trump earned about US$521,161 from sales of Melania’s memoir published by Skyhorse Publishing. He also reported US$6 million in net profit from digital collectibles and NFT-related products.

Overall, Trump’s reported income for 2025 reached at least US$2.2 billion, more than triple the previous year’s minimum reported earnings of US$622 million.

Much of the increase came from the family’s cryptocurrency venture, World Liberty Financial, which reportedly generated around US$1.4 billion in profits.

Trump’s disclosure also listed investments in major technology and media companies, including Apple, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Oracle, Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount Skydance, and Fox Corp.

Meanwhile, his stake in the parent company of Truth Social is currently valued at around US$900 million, although the stock has fallen by more than 40% this year.
