Jakarta, ThedailyID — Arrmanatha Nasir officially took over as Indonesia’s foreign minister from Sugiono following a handover ceremony at the Foreign Ministry’s headquarters in Central Jakarta on Monday, October 12, 2026.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta and several ministry officials. It began with the national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by the signing of the official handover documents.
After signing the documents, Sugiono and Arrmanatha, widely known as Tata, shook hands and briefly embraced.
President Prabowo Subianto appointed Arrmanatha, who previously served as deputy foreign minister, as foreign minister during a ceremony at the State Palace on Thursday, October 1.
During the inauguration, Prabowo led Arrmanatha through his oath of office.
“I swear that I will remain loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and faithfully uphold all applicable laws and regulations in service to the nation and state. In carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of my office and perform my responsibilities to the best of my ability, with a full sense of responsibility,” Arrmanatha said as he followed the oath led by Prabowo.
Sugiono previously held the foreign minister position before moving to his new role as Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.
The handover formally marks Arrmanatha’s transition to Indonesia’s top diplomatic post.
