Jakarta, ThedailyID — More than 1,000 fans dressed as Marilyn Monroe gathered in Palm Springs, California, to celebrate what would have been the Hollywood icon’s 100th birthday and set a new Guinness World Record.
Organizers recorded 1,037 participants wearing Monroe’s signature white halter dress and platinum blonde wig during the event on May 30. The gathering shattered the previous record of 254 Monroe lookalikes set in Australia in 2020.
The record-breaking event took place around the famous “Forever Marilyn” statue in downtown Palm Springs. Organizers held the celebration as part of the multi-day Marilyn 100 festival honoring Monroe’s centennial birthday on June 1, 2026.
Participants traveled from across the United States to join the tribute. Many arrived wearing matching outfits and accessories inspired by Monroe’s most recognizable look from the 1955 film The Seven Year Itch.
The celebration featured live music, themed entertainment, food vendors, film screenings, and special performances. Organizers originally hoped to attract 500 participants, but attendance more than doubled expectations.
Monroe remains one of Hollywood’s most enduring stars more than six decades after her death. Her influence on film, fashion, and popular culture continues to resonate with fans around the world.
The event transformed downtown Palm Springs into a sea of white dresses and blonde wigs. It also highlighted Monroe’s lasting legacy as one of the most recognizable figures in entertainment history.
