Jakarta, ThedailyID — President Prabowo Subianto received Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Saud bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday.
During the meeting, Al-Thani delivered a special message from Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Prabowo welcomed the message and expressed appreciation for the Emir’s attention toward Indonesia.
Both leaders also discussed efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation across several strategic sectors.
The talks focused on follow-up measures from existing agreements between Indonesia and Qatar. They also explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in politics, defense, security, trade, and investment.
In addition, the two sides discussed regional and international issues. Counterterrorism cooperation, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people relations were also part of the agenda.
The meeting followed a strategic dialogue agreement signed by Indonesia and Qatar in April 2025. At the time, Prabowo and Emir Tamim witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at expanding cooperation between the two governments.
Prabowo and Al-Thani emphasized the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic ties. They also expressed support for broader collaboration that benefits both countries.
The discussion took place in a constructive atmosphere and reflected the growing partnership between Jakarta and Doha.
Officials said Indonesia and Qatar remain committed to strengthening their strategic relationship while contributing to regional stability and economic prosperity.
