Jakarta, ThedailyID — President Prabowo Subianto said he regularly receives public feedback through TikTok, including suggestions from children living in rural areas, and pledged to respond to valuable ideas regardless of where they come from.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the National Symposium on Science, Technology and Industry Convention in Jakarta on Sunday, Prabowo said useful recommendations deserve attention whether they come from experts or ordinary citizens.
“Not only suggestions from professors. Even ideas from children in villages that reach me through TikTok or other platforms receive my immediate attention,” Prabowo said.
He said rapid technological advances have changed how governments communicate with the public. Social media, he added, now allows authorities to receive reports and feedback from across Indonesia, including remote regions.
“I receive input from many sources,” he said. “Successful countries are those where both society and the government have the courage to identify problems, recognize shortcomings and solve them.”
However, Prabowo cautioned that technological progress also brings risks alongside its benefits.
He pointed to nuclear technology as an example. According to Prabowo, nuclear energy supports sectors such as healthcare and agriculture, but it can also become a weapon capable of causing mass destruction.
“It can also wipe out human civilization,” he said, referring to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II in 1945.
