Jakarta, ThedailyID — West Java Police confirmed that a 29-year-old woman allegedly held captive and abused by suspect Taufik Hidayat had multiple tattoos linked to him, including a portrait of the suspect.
Police said the woman, identified by the initials YTR, got the tattoos while she was in a relationship with the 30-year-old suspect.
West Java Police spokesperson Hendra Rochmawan said the tattoos included Taufik Hidayat’s face as well as several inscriptions bearing the words “Love Taufik,” the suspect’s initials, and the victim’s name.
“We can confirm the tattoos found on the victim’s body,” Hendra said on Sunday, as quoted by DetikJabar.
“There are several tattoos with the words ‘Love Taufik,’ the initials ‘TH,’ and an image of the suspect on the victim’s body,” he added.
According to Hendra, investigators believe the relationship showed signs of love bombing, a form of emotional manipulation in which one partner overwhelms the other with excessive affection to gain control.
Police said the suspect later isolated the victim from her social circle before the relationship allegedly escalated into physical violence.
“Investigators believe this may have started with love bombing. However, the suspect later restricted the victim’s social interactions, and that behavior eventually led to physical abuse,” Hendra said.
Meanwhile, investigators continue gathering evidence and questioning witnesses as they build the case against Taufik Hidayat.
Police have not released additional details about the ongoing investigation.
