Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk (IDX: PGEO) marked a key milestone in Indonesia’s geothermal development by submitting technical documents for the Bukit Daun Geothermal Power Plant project to PT PLN (Persero). The Bukit Daun project carries a planned capacity of 2×25 megawatts and 2×5 megawatts. The document submission forms part of the process toward project realization and commercial operation.

The technical documents serve as a key requirement for PLN’s evaluation before purchasing electricity from the renewable energy plant. The assessment covers technical readiness, economic feasibility, and grid integration plans under the Electricity Purchase Agreement scheme.

The Bukit Daun project supports Indonesia’s plan to expand renewable power generation capacity to 76 percent between 2025 and 2034 under the national electricity development plan. The geothermal plant also strengthens efforts to increase the country’s clean energy mix.

Edwil Suzandi, Director of Exploration and Development at PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy Tbk, said the Bukit Daun project will improve electricity reliability in Bengkulu and nearby regions. He added that geothermal development in the area also supports national energy security and local economic growth.

PGE and PLN will continue deeper technical and commercial evaluations. The next stage includes reservoir studies, production facility design, and regional power grid interconnection planning.

The Bukit Daun project sits within the Hululais Geothermal Working Area in Bengkulu Province. The area covers Rejang Lebong and Lebong regencies and holds significant geothermal potential due to its favorable geological conditions.

PGE also develops the Hululais Geothermal Power Plant Units 1 and 2 in the same region with a planned capacity of 110 megawatts. The project forms part of the company’s long-term strategy to strengthen Indonesia’s clean energy transition.

Currently, PGE manages 727 megawatts of installed geothermal capacity across six operating areas. The company also develops several strategic projects, including co-generation initiatives with PLN Indonesia Power totaling 230 megawatts.
