Jakarta, ThedailyID — An unidentified pedestrian died after a trailer truck ran over him in the Cilincing area, North Jakarta, on Friday (29/5). The accident happened near the Cilincing Police Post at around 05.30 WIB.
North Jakarta Traffic Police Investigation Unit chief AKP Edy Wibowo said the victim died at the scene after the truck’s rear wheel crushed him. Police identified the driver as R, who operated a container trailer truck with license plate B 9763 UWW.
Police said the victim walked along the roadside before he suddenly slipped toward the traffic lane. At the same time, the truck traveled from east to west along Jalan Raya Cilincing.
The victim fell beside the moving truck and the left rear wheel struck him moments later. The impact caused fatal injuries and killed the victim instantly.
Police officers evacuated the body and transported it to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for further examination. Investigators also questioned several witnesses and inspected the crash site.
Meanwhile, traffic slowed around the area during the evacuation process. Police continue investigating the exact cause of the fatal accident.
Authorities reminded pedestrians and motorists to stay cautious near heavy vehicles, especially in industrial routes across North Jakarta.
