Jakarta, ThedailyID — The Netherlands will take on Morocco in one of the standout ties of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 32 after both teams secured their places in the knockout stage.
Although the group stage has not fully concluded, several Round of 32 matchups are already confirmed. The Netherlands, one of Europe’s title contenders, will face an in-form Morocco side that arrives as the reigning Africa Cup of Nations champion.
The Dutch advanced as Group F winners after defeating Tunisia 3-1 in their final group match.
Earlier in the tournament, Ronald Koeman’s side opened its campaign with a 2-2 draw against Japan. However, the Oranje quickly recovered and cruised to a 5-1 victory over Sweden before closing the group stage with another win over Tunisia.
Meanwhile, Morocco finished second in Group C after another impressive tournament run.
Achraf Hakimi and his teammates began their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Brazil. They then defeated Scotland 1-0 before beating Haiti 4-2 to secure a place in the knockout stage.
The Round of 32 meeting will take place at Estadio Monterrey in Guadalupe, Mexico, on June 29.
The fixture pits one of Europe’s traditional football powers against an emerging force from Africa. Morocco has continued its rise on the international stage following its Africa Cup of Nations triumph, while the Netherlands enters the knockout rounds with growing momentum after two convincing victories.
