Jakarta, ThedailyID — Marvel Studios has begun assembling a new X-Men team for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the new cast during the D23 event in Anaheim, California, on Friday, August 14.
According to Variety, Sadie Sink will play Jean Grey, while Kit Connor will portray Cyclops. The new cast also includes Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Professor X and Maya Boyd as Storm.
Meanwhile, Adam Driver will play the villain Mr. Sinister. Marvel has not yet revealed further details about the character or his role in the story.
The upcoming X-Men reboot will be directed by Jake Schreier and is scheduled to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
The film will mark the X-Men’s return to the big screen after Dark Phoenix in 2019. That film featured James McAvoy as Professor X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.
The previous generation also included Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Alexandra Shipp as Storm.
The original X-Men trilogy starred Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto and James Marsden as Cyclops. Other key cast members included Halle Berry as Storm, Kelsey Grammer as Beast and Famke Janssen as Jean Grey.
Several original X-Men actors are also expected to return in Avengers: Doomsday. They will join MCU characters against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
The X-Men franchise has already begun reconnecting with Marvel’s wider universe. Several characters returned in Deadpool & Wolverine, including Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Channing Tatum also debuted as Gambit in the film and is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday.
Now, Marvel is preparing to introduce the X-Men as an official part of the MCU with a new generation of actors.
