Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has searched eight locations in a suspected corruption case involving disaster emergency funds at the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB).
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the searches took place from Thursday, October 15, to Monday, October 19, 2026. Investigators searched homes, offices and other locations across Jakarta, South Tangerang and Bekasi, including BNPB’s headquarters in East Jakarta.
During the searches, investigators seized documents, electronic evidence, cash, jewelry and three cars. Budi said investigators would analyze the seized items and question relevant parties to determine their connection to the case.
The KPK has named five people as suspects. They include Gabriel Purwaka Sigit, a BNPB subdirector responsible for aid and emergency management who also served as a commitment-making official.
The other suspects are Bima Setiawan and Richard Erlangga, experts to BNPB chief Lieutenant General Suharyanto, along with private-sector individuals Gery Prasetiawan and Syifa Nrika. Bima is the younger brother of former BNPB chief Suharyanto.
According to the KPK, several vendors involved in BNPB procurement had links to Bima. The agency recorded a total procurement value of Rp148 billion between 2024 and 2026.
The procurement relied on Dana Siap Pakai (DSP), or emergency funds intended to respond to major disasters across Indonesia. These included forest and land fires in Papua and Kalimantan, floods in Sumatra and Aceh in November 2025, and an earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara.
Acting KPK Investigation Director Achmad Taufik Husein said investigators had found indications of conflicts of interest and bribery in the use of the funds.
The investigation will now focus on analyzing the seized evidence and gathering further statements. Authorities have yet to disclose the full findings from the latest searches.
