The regulation applies in designated areas with challenging terrain. Tourists who wear inappropriate footwear while exploring those locations may receive warnings or financial penalties from local authorities.
Officials also urged visitors to wear closed-toe shoes or other sturdy footwear when walking through the city’s historic districts and scenic routes.
The city government said the rule is not intended to discourage tourism. Instead, it aims to reduce injuries and encourage responsible travel while protecting both visitors and the local community.
