Iran Rejects Ceasefire Deal, Demands Full End to War With US

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Iran has rejected the possibility of another ceasefire agreement with the United States, saying it wants the war to end completely.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the demand had been communicated to mediators, while stressing that Tehran remains in contact with them.

The statement comes amid growing tensions between Iran and the US over a previous peace agreement. Both sides withdrew from a memorandum of understanding signed in June.

After the agreement’s deadline expired on Wednesday (August 19), US President Donald Trump announced what he called an “unprecedented” economic operation against Iran.

Trump also warned that countries providing assistance to Iran could face severe consequences.

“This will be economic warfare and isolation on a scale never seen before,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He said the measures would severely weaken Iran and its ability to spread what he described as terrorism around the world.

Iran’s latest position signals that Tehran is seeking a complete end to hostilities rather than another temporary pause in fighting.

Araghchi said communication with mediators remains ongoing, leaving diplomatic channels open despite the growing confrontation between Tehran and Washington.

The dispute comes as the two countries remain divided over the terms and future of their previous agreement.
