Jakarta, ThedailyID — FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised the atmosphere and intensity of the Vietnam vs Thailand clash in the second leg of the 2026 AFF Championship final at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, on Wednesday (26/8).
Vietnam drew 2-2 with Thailand in the match, securing a 4-2 aggregate victory to retain the AFF Championship title.
Infantino attended the final and praised the passionate atmosphere inside the packed stadium, as millions of Vietnamese fans celebrated their team’s fourth AFF Championship title.
“It was a real pleasure to be in beautiful Hanoi to watch the final of the ASEAN Championship 2026 and experience the passionate atmosphere inside a packed stadium,” Infantino said in an Instagram post.
He also praised Thailand for their determined performance after the team fought back to secure a 2-2 draw in the second leg.
Infantino said moments like the final reflect the essence of FIFA and encouraged further cooperation with member associations to develop football around the world.
“Moments like these reflect the essence of FIFA as we continue to work together with FIFA Member Associations to develop the game and bring the best football to every corner of the world,” Infantino said.
