Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day celebrations will feature a carnival through Central Jakarta on Monday, Aug. 17.
The parade will pass several iconic landmarks before ending at Taman Atas Skatepark. The event will also feature dozens of decorated vehicles from government ministries and agencies.
According to Creative Economy Ministry Secretary Dessy Ruhati, the carnival will start at Monas, continue to Bundaran HI, and finish at Taman Atas Skatepark.
“The carnival route starts from Monas, passes Bundaran HI, and ends at Taman Atas Skatepark,” Dessy said in an official statement from the Government Communications Agency on Sunday, Aug. 16.
For those planning to watch the parade in person, Dessy recommended two locations for the best views: Sarinah and the Bundaran HI area.
“The ideal spots to watch the carnival are around Sarinah and the Bundaran HI area,” she said.
The parade will feature dozens of decorated vehicles from ministries and government agencies. Each vehicle will showcase the identity, responsibilities and priority programs of its respective institution.
Beyond the visual spectacle, the carnival will also highlight government programs carried out under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka over the past two years.
Meanwhile, visitors are advised to prepare for an outdoor event. Dessy recommended bringing drinking water, an umbrella or raincoat, and comfortable footwear.
The carnival is expected to draw crowds along its route, particularly around Sarinah and Bundaran HI, which have been designated as the main viewing areas.
