Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s capital market investor base continued to expand despite the sharp decline in the benchmark Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) this year.
By the end of June 2026, the number of capital market investors had reached 28.96 million. That figure increased by 1.21 million from the previous month.
Financial Services Authority (OJK) Chief Executive for Capital Market Supervision, Derivatives, and Carbon Exchange Hasan Fawzi said investor participation continued to grow at a strong pace.
“The number of capital market investors continued to increase significantly. We recorded an additional 1.21 million investors in June 2026, bringing the total to 28.96 million, or a 42.22% year-to-date increase,” Hasan said during OJK’s monthly press briefing on Tuesday.
However, Hasan said the domestic stock market remained in a consolidation phase. He attributed the trend to persistent global uncertainty, investor sentiment toward domestic policies, and ongoing portfolio rebalancing.
“The domestic stock market remained in a consolidation phase throughout June 2026. Global uncertainty, domestic policy perceptions, and portfolio rebalancing all contributed to market conditions,” he said.
The IHSG closed at 5,643.19 at the end of June. The index fell 7.9% from the previous month and had declined 34.74% since the start of the year.
Meanwhile, foreign investors recorded net stock sales of Rp19.63 trillion during June. Even so, market liquidity remained stable, with average daily trading value reaching Rp22.23 trillion.
In contrast, foreign investors posted net purchases of Rp22.43 trillion in Indonesian government bonds (SBN) during the same period.
Meanwhile, mutual fund net asset value (NAV) stood at Rp652.9 trillion. The figure declined 4.79% from May and fell 3.32% compared with the beginning of the year.
