Jakarta, ThedailyID — The fasting month of Ramadan typically brings a surge in digital activity, from travel planning and holiday shopping to money transfers and online donations. As communication and transactions intensify, people often make faster and more spontaneous decisions, creating greater exposure to digital fraud risks during one of the busiest periods of the year.
According to the 2025 State of Scams in Indonesia report by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance, Mastercard, and Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, digital scam cases rise by 34.7% during Ramadan. The report shows that 89% of incidents occur via WhatsApp and 64% through phone calls, turning everyday communication channels into key points of vulnerability.
In response, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, through its IM3 brand, launched the “IM3 SATSPAM+ Protect Ramadan Users” campaign and introduced a new feature under its SATSPAM+ (Anti-Scam and Spam Task Force Plus) service. The innovation marks the first WhatsApp Call protection feature in Indonesia, designed to help customers stay safe from increasingly sophisticated digital scams.
Powered by AIvolusi5G technology, which combines artificial intelligence with 5G connectivity, SATSPAM+ operates in real time to detect and block suspicious activity across SMS, regular calls, and WhatsApp calls. The feature also provides automated detection, optional number blocking, and personalized daily reports. The initiative supports the company’s ambition to position itself as an AI-driven technology leader while extending protection to vulnerable groups, including the elderly and communities in remote areas.
Bilal Kazmi, Director and Chief Commercial Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said the rapid growth in SATSPAM+ adoption since its launch in August 2025 shows that scam and spam protection has become an essential service rather than an optional add-on. During Ramadan, when digital usage spikes, the company aims to give customers peace of mind so they can focus on worship, work, and sharing with others without worrying about fraud.
To support the campaign, IM3 introduced special Ramadan SATSPAM+ data packages that automatically include protection at no extra cost. Flagship options include a 150GB/28-day plan priced at Rp150,000 and a 300GB/28-day plan at Rp200,000, each bundled with 5,000 minutes and SMS to fellow IM3 and Tri users, plus complimentary access to streaming platforms such as Viu or Vidio. Shorter-term packages range from 20GB for three days at Rp20,000 to 75GB for ten days at Rp50,000, complete with 1,000 minutes and SMS to IM3 and Tri numbers.
For postpaid customers, SATSPAM+ protection is already integrated into the IM3 Platinum service, which also allows the use of main data quotas for roaming in Malaysia and Singapore. Through the Platinum 50 package, priced at Rp100,000 per month for 50GB, customers can access a Ramadan promotion offering an additional 25GB for Rp25,000 with a seven-day validity period. The campaign launch was highlighted by a special performance from Kunto Aji alongside content creator Agung Karmalogy at Blok M Hub in Jakarta, celebrating the spirit of hardworking Ramadan participants while promoting anti-scam awareness.
