Jakarta, ThedailyID — A shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, left three people dead and two others injured on Saturday, August 1, according to local officials.
City spokesperson Josh Palmer confirmed the initial death toll. Police also said the suspected gunman died, although authorities have not confirmed whether the suspect is included among the three reported fatalities.
Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said investigators are still working to determine the suspect’s identity and motive. He added that officers have secured the scene.
“We believe the threat to the community has ended,” Hicks said during a press conference, according to Fox News. “The suspected shooter involved in this incident has died.”
Police received reports of the shooting at around 2:30 p.m. local time, Hicks said.
Idaho Governor Brad Little urged residents to pray for the Twin Falls community as law enforcement officers and emergency responders continued their work.
“Idahoans, please join me in praying for the Twin Falls community as law enforcement and first responders respond to the active shooting near In-N-Out,” Little wrote on X.
Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador said he is closely monitoring developments. He added that local police, the Idaho State Police, firefighters, and paramedics remain at the scene to secure the area.
Idaho is one of 29 U.S. states with permissive firearm laws. Under its constitutional carry policy, eligible residents may carry firearms openly or concealed without obtaining a permit.
