Hukumonline Launches AI-Powered NEX Compliance to Streamline Regulatory Management

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Hukumonline has launched NEX Compliance, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered system designed to help businesses manage regulatory obligations more efficiently. The platform aims to reduce repetitive manual work and integrate compliance processes across departments.

CEO Arkka Dhiratara introduced the system on Friday, October 9, 2026, during the Indonesian In-House Counsel Summit & Awards 2026 at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.

“We developed NEX Compliance to address the daily challenges faced by Legal and Compliance teams. We want to help companies reduce repetitive manual work while providing a more structured way to identify and manage compliance obligations,” Arkka said.

Indonesia’s complex regulatory environment highlights the need for such tools. According to TMF Group’s Global Business Complexity Index 2026, Indonesia ranks 15th among the world’s most complex jurisdictions for doing business.

Hukumonline’s database contains more than 360,000 regulations currently in force in Indonesia. Around 3,300 new regulations appear each year. Hukumonline’s research also estimates that these regulations generate an average of 17,400 obligations annually.

“Imagine if 300 regulations were relevant to your business. How many obligations would your company need to fulfill?” Arkka said.

However, the challenge extends beyond the volume of regulations. Legal and Compliance teams must extract obligations, assess their relevance, set priorities, assign responsibilities, and monitor follow-up actions. Compliance information also often sits across separate documents, systems, and departments.

“Compliance management is not just about collecting as many regulations as possible. What matters more is identifying relevant obligations, understanding their priorities, and consistently monitoring follow-up actions,” said Abdul Rhazak Chaidir, Associate Vice President of Enterprise Solutions at Hukumonline.

Hukumonline previously developed its Regulatory Compliance System (RCS) in 2020. The platform helped companies monitor obligations based on applicable regulations, supported by content verified by experts.

NEX Compliance builds on that foundation. Users can ask questions about regulations related to their business activities. The system then helps identify relevant information, determine applicable obligations, assign responsibilities, and track follow-up actions.

The platform also introduces two new capabilities: Internal Policy and Regulation Review, and Internal Compliance Framework. The first helps companies review standard operating procedures, internal policies, and corporate documents against current regulations. The second supports monitoring obligations under external regulations and the company’s internal framework.

These capabilities complement existing RCS functions, including risk-based obligation prioritization, regulatory updates, and compliance activity notifications.

Through this integrated approach, Hukumonline aims to help businesses manage changing regulatory requirements while reducing fragmented workflows. The system also allows Legal and Compliance teams to focus more on decision-making and compliance priorities.
