Gerindra Defends State Budget Use for Prabowo’s 1,098 Qurban Cows

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Gerindra Party defended the use of state budget funds for the procurement of 1,098 qurban cows distributed under President Prabowo Subianto ahead of Eid al-Adha.

The party stated that the program does not violate regulations because the government allocated the budget according to existing rules and administrative procedures.

Gerindra politician Ahmad Riza Patria explained that the presidential qurban assistance program aimed to support communities across Indonesia during Eid al-Adha celebrations.

According to him, the distribution also reflects the president’s commitment to helping residents and strengthening social solidarity during the religious holiday.

The statement came after public discussions emerged regarding the use of the State Budget, locally known as Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara (APBN), for the procurement of qurban animals.

Critics questioned whether the spending aligned with government priorities and financial regulations.

However, Gerindra insisted that the program followed legal mechanisms and formed part of social and community support activities traditionally carried out by national leaders.

Reports stated that the government prepared 1,098 qurban cows for distribution to various regions throughout Indonesia.

The cows will reportedly reach mosques, Islamic organizations, pesantren, and local communities during Eid al-Adha celebrations.

Meanwhile, supporters argued that the program could help communities access qurban meat and strengthen social welfare efforts.

The discussion also sparked wider public debate on the use of public funds for ceremonial and religious-related activities by state officials.

Despite the criticism, Gerindra maintained that the policy remains lawful and consistent with existing government practices.

Meanwhile, Eid al-Adha preparations continue across Indonesia as Muslim communities prepare qurban activities and holiday prayers.
