Jakarta, ThedailyID — A fatal traffic accident on the Cijago Toll Road in Depok, West Java, claimed the life of a Toyota Avanza driver after the vehicle crashed into a dump truck parked on the road shoulder on Sunday, August 2.
The collision occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. near Kilometer 41.200A, according to police.
Authorities said the dump truck had been traveling from Limo toward Jatikarya before its driver decided to pull over. Police said the driver stopped on the shoulder because he felt drowsy and needed to rest before continuing the journey.
Shortly afterward, the Toyota Avanza approached from the same direction and slammed into the rear of the stationary truck. The impact caused severe damage to the passenger vehicle.
According to Kainduk Tol Jagorawi Commissioner Akhmad Jajuli, the truck driver allegedly attempted to leave the scene after the crash. However, another passing motorist intercepted the vehicle at Kilometer 42.200A, preventing it from fleeing before authorities arrived.
Emergency responders pronounced the Avanza driver, identified by the initials PS, dead following the collision. Officers later transported the victim’s body to PMI Hospital Bogor for further procedures.
Police have not released additional information about the victim or whether anyone else sustained injuries in the crash.
Investigators from the Traffic Accident Unit of the Depok Metro Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are examining whether the dump truck’s position on the road shoulder, as well as other contributing factors, played a role in the fatal collision.
The investigation remains ongoing.
