Jakarta, ThedailyID — d4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas. The arrest marks a major development in a case that has been under investigation since last year.
Authorities said they will submit the case to the District Attorney’s office on Monday to determine the next legal steps. A spokesperson from LAPD confirmed the update to Associated Press.
According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Rivas was pronounced dead on September 8, 2025. More than a year after she was reported missing, investigators found her decomposed body inside a bag in the front trunk of a Tesla registered under Burke’s name.
The condition of the remains suggested that the victim had died long before the discovery. The case quickly drew public attention due to the disturbing circumstances surrounding the finding.
Earlier in September 2025, a representative for d4vd told NBC News that the singer had cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation. However, neither Burke nor his legal team has issued a new statement following the arrest.
The case continues to develop as prosecutors review evidence and determine potential charges. It has also raised broader concerns about accountability and the timeline of the investigation.
