Jakarta, ThedailyID — Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha has attracted interest from Brazilian clubs after delivering a series of standout performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Brazilian journalist Marcelo Braga, cited by OneFootball, Atlético Goianiense and Avaí have opened discussions about signing the 40-year-old goalkeeper.
The report said negotiations remain in the early stages. However, Vozinha has expressed his willingness to begin a new chapter in Brazilian football.
The veteran goalkeeper, whose full name is Josimar José Evora Dias, also drew links to Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami earlier this year. However, those reports have not progressed.
Vozinha became a free agent after his contract with Portuguese club Chaves expired on June 30. As a result, interested clubs can negotiate directly without paying a transfer fee.
Speaking to CNN Brasil, Vozinha acknowledged the speculation surrounding his future.
“I’ve heard the rumors, but nothing is concrete yet. Playing in Brazil would be wonderful, especially after all the affection I’ve received from Brazilian fans. I’m open to anything. If it happens, it would be fantastic,” he said.
Vozinha emerged as one of Cape Verde’s standout players during the World Cup despite being one of the tournament’s oldest goalkeepers.
He helped Cape Verde secure a goalless draw against Spain and delivered another impressive display in a narrow 3-2 defeat to Argentina. Those performances drew widespread praise and increased interest in his future.
