Medan, ThedailyID — Bank Mandiri held a communal iftar and charity event for orphans at Menara Mandiri Regional I/Sumatera 1 in Medan on Tuesday (24/2), marking the spirit of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. The event took place at the bank’s regional office on Jalan Pulau Pinang and gathered employees, management, and invited guests.
The initiative is part of Bank Mandiri’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program under the theme “Appreciating the Blessings of the Moment by Sharing Kindness.” It reflects the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable social impact while strengthening ties between the company, employees, and surrounding communities.
The event was attended by President Director Riduan, Deputy President Director Henry Panjaitan, members of the board of directors, senior executives, management, and representatives from Mandiri Group. The program featured a religious sermon delivered by Ustad Othman Omar Shihab.
In his remarks, Riduan said Ramadan provides an important opportunity for the company to reinforce social solidarity through concrete actions that deliver direct and lasting benefits. He added that through collective acts of sharing, Bank Mandiri aims to spread meaningful blessings and strengthen harmonious relations with communities in Medan and nearby areas.
In addition to the iftar gathering, the bank distributed aid packages to local communities. The assistance included school supply packages, health kits for the elderly, and basic food packages to help meet essential needs. The bank also organized free mass circumcision services for underprivileged children in collaboration with Mandiri Amal Insani (MAI), supporting public health in the surrounding areas.
Throughout Ramadan, Mandiri Group has provided assistance to more than 114,000 beneficiaries nationwide through its “Mandiri Berbagi Kebaikan” program. The support targets orphans, the elderly, underprivileged families, vulnerable communities, and residents living near the bank’s operational areas. This year, Bank Mandiri also launched a free homecoming (mudik) program to support smoother travel during Eid, offering transportation to 80 destination cities across Indonesia.
Region I/Sumatera 1 RCEO I Gede Raka Arimbawa said the Medan event was attended by 305 participants, including representatives from subsidiaries and 250 children from four orphanages. The region distributed 2,000 school aid packages to children across 35 orphanages, 100 health packages for the elderly, and 1,085 basic food packages across North Sumatra, Riau, and the Riau Islands. Several beneficiaries, including Sohmoi and Ayunda from local orphanages, expressed their happiness in joining the event for the first time and hoped similar activities would continue in the future.
