Bandung, ThedailyID — Bank Mandiri reaffirmed its commitment as a strategic partner of the government in supporting flood response and recovery efforts in Bandung Regency, West Java. The bank delivered humanitarian assistance to residents affected by flooding caused by a collapsed embankment in Bojong Village, Majalaya District.
The flood, which occurred on 12 February, submerged hundreds of homes and severely damaged six houses. The situation required a swift response to ensure the availability of basic necessities for affected residents.
Regional CEO Bank Mandiri Region VI/West Java Nila Mayta Dwi Rihandjani said that through coordination between Mandirian volunteers and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bandung Regency, the bank distributed essential aid packages. The assistance included ready-to-eat meals, cleaning supplies, clothing, and medicines.
She stated that the support reflects the company’s presence in responding quickly and in a coordinated manner to humanitarian emergencies. As a state-owned enterprise, Bank Mandiri not only serves as a financial institution but also carries social responsibility to assist communities in times of need.
“In emergency situations, speed and accuracy in distribution are crucial. Therefore, Bank Mandiri ensures that all assistance is delivered through close coordination with local governments and relevant stakeholders,” Nila said in a written statement on Thursday (19/2).
To ensure effective disaster response, the aid packages were distributed in coordination with the Bandung Regency BPBD before being handed over to residents still coping with the flood impact near the collapsed embankment site. Despite weather-related disruptions to several distribution routes, the team secured alternative access with support from local authorities to prioritize timely delivery.
Beyond aid distribution, Mandirian volunteers also helped clean affected homes. The initiative is part of Bank Mandiri’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which continues to accelerate assistance in disaster-prone areas. The bank said it will continue to collaborate with the government and stakeholders to ensure timely and targeted support, while monitoring conditions and preparing additional assistance if needed.
