Jakarta, ThedailyID — Bali police arrested a 27-year-old Australian national identified by the initials BA after he allegedly committed an indecent act outside a resident’s home in Berawa, Badung.
The incident took place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at around 6:29 p.m. local time. CCTV footage of the incident later circulated widely on social media.
Bali Police spokesperson Kombes Pol Ariasandy said officers identified BA through his facial features and other characteristics. Police then coordinated with immigration officials after learning that he planned to fly back to Australia.
Officers arrested BA at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Tuesday, August 25, around noon, before he boarded his flight.
Police said BA admitted to the act during preliminary questioning. According to investigators, he had met a woman at a beach club in the area while both were reportedly intoxicated.
The two then allegedly left the venue and engaged in an indecent act in front of a local resident’s house. The homeowner reportedly confronted them after seeing what was happening.
Police said the incident lasted about 15 minutes before the two foreign nationals left the area on foot. The identity and whereabouts of the woman remain unclear.
BA is being held at the Badung Police headquarters while investigators conduct further questioning and coordinate with immigration authorities.
Police are investigating the case under Articles 406 and/or 407 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning public decency offenses.
Bali Police urged both domestic and foreign tourists to respect local norms, customs and laws during their stay on the island.
