Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT ANTAM Tbk signed a Gold Sales & Purchase Agreement (GSPA) with PT Bumi Suksesindo (BSI) and PT Puncak Emas Tani Sejahtera (PETS), both part of Merdeka Group. The agreement aims to strengthen Indonesia’s gold sovereignty and secure domestic supply.
The two-year deal covers 6 metric tons of gold per year. Under the scheme, ANTAM will buy gold from BSI and PETS. The partnership strengthens the domestic gold supply chain and supports Indonesia’s mining industry.
ANTAM Commercial Director Handi Sutanto said the partnership prioritizes national gold sovereignty.
“Through this agreement, we strengthen ANTAM gold as gold sourced from Indonesian mines, refined at the country’s only and oldest LBMA-certified refinery, and returned to the nation as gold that stands the test of time and can be passed across generations,” Handi said.
Earlier, ANTAM and BSI cooperated through refining services. Mines sent dore to ANTAM’s refinery. The company refined the metal and processed it into 99.99% gold granules. Now, the GSPA structures domestic gold transactions and strengthens supply chain integration.
Handi added that traceable supply sources help maintain ANTAM’s brand strength.
“Stable supply from responsible sources strengthens ANTAM gold’s position as an LBMA-certified product that meets international standards, including governance and sustainability. We want ANTAM gold to be ethical, secure, and trusted by the public,” he said.
He also acknowledged strong public attention toward the ANTAM brand, including on social media. According to Handi, the company sees this attention as positive feedback that drives continuous improvement.
Meanwhile, Merdeka Copper Gold President Director Albert Saputro said the agreement helps secure domestic absorption of Merdeka’s gold production.
“With stronger production from Tujuh Bukit and Pani Gold Mine, we need a stable and measurable offtake structure. This agreement ensures production absorption while strengthening our contribution to Indonesia’s domestic gold industry,” Albert said.
Through the partnership, ANTAM, BSI, and PETS aim to maintain stable gold supply. They also want to optimize domestic refining capacity and strengthen Indonesia’s gold industry through an integrated supply chain.
