Jakarta, ThedailyID — Prabowo Subianto met Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace in Paris on April 14, 2026, to discuss expanding cooperation between Indonesia and France. The meeting covered defense, energy, and other strategic sectors.
Prabowo said the talks included plans for military procurement and strengthening the defense industry. “Including defense equipment procurement, defense industry strengthening, energy transition, and renewable energy development,” he wrote on his Instagram account.
In addition, both leaders discussed cooperation in infrastructure, transportation, education, and the creative economy. The meeting reflects broader efforts to deepen bilateral ties beyond the defense sector.
Prabowo described France as an important partner for Indonesia in Europe. He said Indonesia aims to build sustainable cooperation to open new collaboration opportunities.
The Paris visit is part of Prabowo’s overseas trip that began earlier in the week. He previously visited Russia and met Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on April 13, 2026.
The series of meetings highlights Indonesia’s active diplomatic engagement with global partners. It also signals efforts to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
