Jakarta, ThedailyID — Lamine Yamal has broken a record previously held by Kylian Mbappe after helping Barcelona defeat Aston Villa in the 2026/2027 UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona secured a 3-0 victory at Camp Nou on Tuesday (November 3), or Wednesday (November 4) early morning Western Indonesian Time. Yamal contributed one goal to the team’s win.
The goal brought Yamal’s total to 14 in UEFA’s top continental competition. As a result, the 19-year-old surpassed Mbappe’s record as the highest-scoring teenager in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Yamal’s Barcelona teammate Raphinha scored twice against Aston Villa. The Brazilian forward has now recorded 19 goals in 13 Champions League appearances over the past two seasons.
Despite heavy rain throughout the match, Aston Villa struggled to contain Barcelona. Hansi Flick’s side delivered a dominant performance, combining solid teamwork with attacking football.
The partnership between Yamal and Raphinha has also become one of Barcelona’s most productive attacking combinations this season. Both players have shown their ability to finish chances and create opportunities for their teammates.
So far, Yamal and Raphinha have scored 32 goals combined out of Barcelona’s 60 goals in 15 matches this season.
Raphinha has also moved ahead of Mbappe in Europe’s scoring standings. The Brazilian currently leads with 19 goals, while the French forward sits second with 15.
In addition, Raphinha has matched Robert Lewandowski’s Champions League record at Barcelona. Both players have scored 23 goals in the competition for the club.
However, Raphinha remains far behind Lionel Messi, who holds Barcelona’s all-time Champions League scoring record with 120 goals.
