Jakarta, ThedailyID — The Indonesian rupiah strengthened to Rp17,900 per US dollar at Tuesday’s close on October 13, 2026. The currency gained 13 points, or 0.07%, compared with the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, Asian currencies showed mixed movements against the US dollar. The Chinese yuan slipped 0.01%, while the Philippine peso weakened 0.06%. The Malaysian ringgit also fell 0.03%, and the South Korean won dropped 0.56%.
In contrast, several regional currencies gained ground. The Japanese yen rose 0.33%, while the Singapore dollar strengthened 0.05%. The Hong Kong dollar remained unchanged against the US dollar.
Major currencies from developed economies also advanced against the greenback. The euro gained 0.29%, while the British pound rose 0.22%. In addition, the Australian dollar strengthened 0.14%, the Canadian dollar gained 0.15%, and the Swiss franc climbed 0.19%.
The rupiah’s gains came amid easing selling pressure on global government bonds and a weaker US dollar. These conditions helped support the Indonesian currency during Tuesday’s trading session.
Furthermore, global crude oil prices declined as investors took profits ahead of the release of US inflation data scheduled for Wednesday, October 14.
However, risk-off sentiment in domestic and global markets continued to limit the rupiah’s gains. As a result, the currency’s appreciation remained modest despite the weaker US dollar.
