Meanwhile, the Hong Kong dollar remained unchanged, while the Chinese yuan weakened 0.01% against the US dollar.

Major currencies from developed economies also posted gains. The euro and British pound each rose 0.11%. The Australian dollar gained 0.10%, the Swiss franc increased 0.07%, and the Canadian dollar edged up 0.02%.

Lower global oil prices and a weaker US dollar index supported the rupiah’s movement. Expectations of easing diesel shortages also offered potential support, following reports that Russia would release daily fuel supplies at the request of US President Donald Trump.

However, renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could limit further gains. Uncertainty surrounding the regional security situation remains a potential risk for currency markets.

The rupiah was projected to trade between Rp17,850 and Rp17,950 per US dollar during Monday’s session.
