John Ternus’ Apple CEO Salary Revealed at Nearly US$58 Million

Jakarta, ThedailyID — John Ternus officially became Apple’s CEO on Tuesday (Sept. 1, 2026), replacing Tim Cook after 15 years at the helm.

His new position comes with a massive compensation package. Ternus is set to receive around US$58 million (Rp890 billion) per year, according to Apple’s latest filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The package includes an annual base salary of US$3 million. Ternus will also receive a one-time restricted stock unit (RSU) award worth US$2.5 million, prorated for his service as CEO during fiscal 2026.

Starting in fiscal 2027, Ternus will receive an annual stock award with a target value of US$55 million.

About 75% of that award will come as performance-based stock. Apple will determine the payout based on the company’s total shareholder return compared with other companies in the S&P 500.

The remaining 25% will come as time-based stock. Apple will release those shares every six months in equal 12.5% portions over four years.

Ternus’ previous compensation as Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering was not disclosed. Bloomberg reported that executives at a similar level typically receive around US$25 million annually, including salary, stock and bonuses.

Meanwhile, Cook will remain as Apple’s executive chairman. His annual salary will drop to US$2 million, while his fiscal 2027 stock award will have a target value of US$45 million.

Ternus now takes charge as Apple faces intense competition in artificial intelligence. His leadership will also shape the company’s strategy across hardware, software and services.
