Trump Claims Hormuz Cleared of Sea Mines, Warns Iran

Jakarta, ThedailyID — US President Donald Trump claims all sea mines in the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz have been removed or detonated.

Trump also warned Iran against deploying new mines in the strategic waterway. He said any vessel involved in laying new mines would face an immediate and systematic attack.

Trump made the statement through Truth Social, adding that the US would use Space Force technology to monitor “every inch” of the Strait of Hormuz. He also referred to Pickaxe Mountain and three other nuclear sites that he claimed had been destroyed.

Iran has yet to issue an official response to Trump’s latest statement.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a key flashpoint in the conflict. Disruptions around the waterway have triggered sharp fluctuations in global oil prices, while Iran has previously targeted vessels it accused of attempting to pass through without permission.

Iran has also signaled plans to strengthen its control over the strait. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran had discussed a mechanism with neighboring Oman under which ships would enter through Iranian waters and exit through Omani territorial waters.

Gharibabadi said only commercial vessels would be allowed to pass, while military vessels would be barred. He warned that Iran could close the strait if its demands were not accepted.

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and is a critical route for global energy shipments, making any disruption there a potential threat to international oil markets.
