Jakarta, ThedailyID — Beijing showcased its latest humanoid robot technology at the second World Humanoid Robot Games, where robots ran, jumped, played music and even copied Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic “Siuuu” celebration.
A video shared by the World Humanoid Robot Games account on X on Sunday (23/08) showed a humanoid robot performing Ronaldo’s signature celebration after scoring a goal.
The five-day event officially opened on Saturday (22/08) at the National Speed Skating Oval in Beijing. According to CGTN, 666 teams from 16 countries across six continents are taking part, with 2,056 robots scheduled to compete in 51 events.
More than 1,000 humanoid robots appeared during the opening ceremony under the theme “Intelligence Competing Toward the Future.” The event highlighted how humanoid robots are increasingly moving beyond laboratories toward real-world applications.
Among the demonstrations, 80 Booster T2 humanoid robots moved in synchronized formations and eventually arranged themselves to spell “BEIJING.”
Meanwhile, 50 Tiangong Embodied Intelligence 3.0 robots demonstrated autonomous navigation and synchronized movements. Another 25 wheeled Galbot G1 robots showcased their ability to perform complex tasks in environments such as homes, retail spaces and restaurants.
Several robots also demonstrated impressive physical abilities. One Chinese humanoid robot reportedly jumped 2.88 meters from a standing position, while another completed a 100-meter qualifying race in 9.39 seconds.
The event also featured 36 humanoid robots playing musical instruments alongside human musicians. Other demonstrations included tennis, table tennis and a penalty shootout involving former Chinese footballer Yang Chen.
