Jakarta, ThedailyID — President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate Jakarta’s Kelapa Gading-Manggarai LRT route on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the route is projected to serve up to 80,000 passengers daily once it begins operations.
“Hopefully, it will be inaugurated by President Prabowo on August 26,” Pramono said in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Sunday (22/08).
The 12.2-kilometer route will connect Kelapa Gading and Manggarai through 11 stations. The stations include Kelapa Gading, Boulevard Utara, Boulevard Selatan, Pulomas, Equestrian, Velodrome, Rawamangun, Pramuka, Matraman, Proklamasi and Manggarai.
Several stations will connect with TransJakarta services. Meanwhile, Manggarai Station will provide connections to KRL Commuter Line, the airport train and TransJakarta.
The new route is expected to cut travel time between Kelapa Gading and Manggarai to around 28 minutes.
After the route opens, the Jakarta administration plans to extend the LRT network toward Dukuh Atas. A pedestrian deck is also being built there to connect the MRT, airport train, LRT, KRL and TransJakarta.
Pramono said the infrastructure would improve public access to transportation and strengthen Jakarta’s integrated transit network.
“This is the main backbone of transportation that will change the face of Jakarta,” he said.
