Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed at 6,525 on Friday (August 21, 2026), gaining 24.10 points, or 0.37%, from the previous session.
According to RTI Infokom, investors recorded Rp17.42 trillion in transactions, with 58.08 billion shares changing hands. A total of 319 stocks rose, while 294 fell and 178 remained unchanged.
Eight of the 11 sectoral indexes gained. The infrastructure sector led the advance, rising 0.61%. Meanwhile, the healthcare sector posted the steepest decline, falling 0.73%.
Across Asia, most major stock markets also closed higher. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Composite rose 1.21%, Singapore’s Straits Times gained 0.33%, and China’s Shanghai Composite edged up 0.04%.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 moved in the opposite direction, falling 0.30%.
European markets mostly advanced as well. Germany’s DAX rose 0.34%, while the UK’s FTSE 100 gained 0.23%.
U.S. markets, however, closed lower across the board. The S&P 500 fell 0.87%, the Nasdaq Composite dropped 1%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 1.32%.
