Jakarta, ThedailyID — Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez chose an intimate setting for their wedding, holding the ceremony in their home with only their children and closest loved ones present.
The decision may have surprised fans, considering Ronaldo could have hosted a lavish celebration attended by celebrities, athletes and prominent figures from around the world.
Instead, the couple chose their living room as the place to exchange their wedding vows. For them, the space carries special meaning because it is where their family spends much of its daily life.
Georgina explained why they chose the room where they regularly share meals and family moments.
“We chose the living room where we have breakfast, lunch and dinner, where we live our everyday lives,” Georgina said, according to Turbo FC.
She also wanted the ceremony to become a lasting memory for their children.
“In 30 years, I want our children to think: something beautiful happened here, at this table, where our parents made their wedding vows,” she said.
Ronaldo and Georgina confirmed their marriage through Instagram posts on Aug. 11, or Aug. 12 in Indonesia. The couple shared a symbolic photo of their ring-adorned hands.
Details about the ceremony initially remained limited. The reception was reportedly private and attended only by their closest circle.
The wedding also came shortly before the 2026/27 Saudi Pro League season resumes. Ronaldo remains under contract with Al Nassr and is preparing to continue his career in Saudi Arabia at age 41.
The Portuguese star is also closing in on 1,000 career goals, a milestone he could potentially reach during the upcoming season.
