Jakarta, ThedailyID — Iran claims more than 75% of its missile and drone capabilities remain intact after nearly six months of US and Israeli strikes.
The claim came from Brigadier General Ali Reza Sheikh, Iran’s Deputy Army Commander for Executive Affairs. His assessment contradicts US President Donald Trump’s claims about the damage inflicted on Iran’s military capabilities.
Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency quoted Sheikh as saying the attacks launched since February were less effective than Washington claimed.
“More than 75 percent of Iran’s missile and drone capabilities remain intact and ready for use,” Sheikh said, according to Middle East Monitor.
Sheikh also described Iran’s drone systems as a “nightmare for the enemy.” He said Tehran remains capable of deploying the systems despite repeated attacks.
However, Trump offered a sharply different assessment last month. He claimed Iran had only about 21% to 22% of its pre-war missile stockpile remaining.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee also defended the military campaign against Iran. He said US and Israeli operations had caused extensive damage to the country.
Meanwhile, the conflicting assessments come as the conflict has lasted longer than Trump initially expected. He had previously predicted the war would last around six weeks.
US media reports have also raised concerns about Washington’s own supplies. Some reports said the United States was facing shortages of missiles and drones after using large quantities during the conflict.
Iran’s latest claim has not been independently verified. The competing statements highlight the uncertainty surrounding the remaining military capabilities of both sides.
