Jakarta, ThedailyID — Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 will officially launch in Indonesia in December 2026, marking the company’s official entry into one of Southeast Asia’s largest gaming markets, Detik reported.
Juro Takeuchi, Executive Officer at Nintendo, announced the launch during the Nintendo Business Conference in Indonesia on Tuesday.
“Today, we are pleased to announce that the launch of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 has been confirmed in Indonesia. The launch is scheduled for December this year,” Takeuchi said.
He said Nintendo aims to bring its gaming experience to more Indonesian players through consoles that combine portability with home gaming.
Takeuchi highlighted the hybrid design of both systems, which allows users to play on a television at home or use the built-in screen while traveling.
He also said the consoles are well suited to Indonesia because many people enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Nintendo will distribute both consoles in Indonesia through Nintendo Singapore in partnership with PT Nusantara Interactive, the company’s official local distributor.
Several first-party titles will also become available alongside the launch, including:
- Mario Kart World
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
- Nintendo Switch Sports Resorts
- Pokemon Pokopia
- Pokemon Legends: Z-A (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
However, Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo eShop will not be available when the consoles launch in Indonesia.
The company said it will announce more details about the digital storefront at a later date.
