Jakarta, ThedailyID — Persija Jakarta plans to host Persib Bandung at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium on September 12 in the second week of Indonesia’s Super League. However, the match still requires security approval.
Persija President Mohammad Prapanca said the club has already secured confirmation from the stadium management.
“We received confirmation from the GBK management. Once we got the draft schedule, we immediately submitted our request,” Prapanca said, as quoted by Antara.
Security authorities must now decide whether the match can take place at the 78,000-seat stadium.
Last season, police refused to grant a security permit for Persija’s home match against Persib. As a result, the clubs moved the game from Jakarta to Segiri Stadium in Samarinda.
Persib won that match 2-1.
Meanwhile, PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir confirmed that Persija will face Australian club Brisbane Roar in a friendly at Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) later this month.
“The match between Brisbane Roar and Persija shows that Indonesia is gaining greater recognition as a host for international football events,” Erick said.
