Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama has an opportunity to move closer to the front of the Moto3 World Championship standings when the series heads to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend.
The Honda Team Asia rider currently sits sixth in the Moto3 standings with 90 points. While he trails championship leader Maximo Quiles by 141 points, the gap to the riders immediately ahead remains much smaller.
Veda is 37 points behind second-placed Brian Uriarte, 36 points adrift of Alvaro Carpe in third, 25 points behind Marco Morelli in fourth, and 19 points behind David Almansa, who occupies fifth place.
Silverstone will present a new challenge for the Indonesian rider. Veda has never raced at the iconic British circuit during his career.
However, he has delivered encouraging results on unfamiliar tracks this season. He finished third in Brazil before securing fifth place in the Czech Republic.
Morelli will also make his competitive debut at Silverstone. Although the Italian raced in Moto3 last season, he did not compete in the British Grand Prix.
A podium finish this weekend would significantly improve Veda’s chances of climbing the championship standings. However, his progress will also depend on the results of the riders directly ahead of him.
Meanwhile, Southeast Asian rival Hakim Danish will also race at Silverstone for the first time. The Malaysian rider currently sits seventh in the standings, just four points behind Veda.
Hakim enters the British Grand Prix in solid form. He won the Czech Grand Prix after finishing seventh in the Netherlands. Although he placed 12th in Germany, he remains one of Veda’s closest challengers in the championship battle.
