Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s benchmark stock index (IHSG) closed 0.8% higher on Friday, July 31, ending the week at 6,236 after broad-based gains across all market sectors.
The index rose 49.76 points from the previous session. According to RTI Infokom, investors traded Rp18.21 trillion (about US$1.1 billion) worth of shares, with 32.44 billion shares changing hands.
A total of 437 stocks advanced, while 193 declined and 159 closed unchanged.
The technology sector led the rally, gaining 2.42%, as all 11 sectoral indices finished in positive territory.
Across Asia, markets delivered mixed performances. Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged 4.03%, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index edged up 0.10% and China’s Shanghai Composite gained 0.72%. Singapore’s Straits Times Index slipped 0.71%.
European markets also traded higher, with Germany’s DAX rising 0.90% and the UK’s FTSE 100 adding 0.68%.
Meanwhile, Wall Street closed firmly in positive territory overnight. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.19%, the S&P 500 rose 1.66%, and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 2.78%.
