Jakarta, ThedailyID — WhatsApp introduced several new features in July 2026, expanding support across iPads, in-car systems, desktop, and web platforms to improve the messaging experience across multiple devices.
The update lets users create a WhatsApp account directly on an iPad without first linking the device to a smartphone. Previously, iPad users could only access WhatsApp by connecting it to an existing phone account.
“WhatsApp will work wherever you are. That’s why we’re working with partners to ensure WhatsApp integrates seamlessly with the other apps you use across your devices, so it fits the way you actually live,” WhatsApp said in a statement released on July 23.
The company first launched WhatsApp for iPad in 2025. Following user feedback, it now allows users to register and set up an account directly through the iPad app.
WhatsApp also upgraded its integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Users can now listen to and reply to messages, make phone calls, review call history, and access favorite contacts without taking their hands off the wheel.
The update also improves PDF support on the web and desktop versions of WhatsApp. Users can now open PDF files directly in the app without downloading them first.
In addition, WhatsApp now lets users highlight text and add annotations to PDF documents inside chats. The feature is powered by Adobe Acrobat.
The company also introduced a new option to share songs directly from Apple Music and Spotify to WhatsApp Status. The feature allows users to post the music they are listening to with just a few taps.
