Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian search and rescue authorities have revised the passenger manifest for the KM Nurul Salsa ferry, reducing the total number of people on board from 78 to 76 after completing a verification process.
The Makassar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas) announced the updated figures on July 23 following cross-checks with victims’ families, the ferry operator, and other relevant agencies.
Officials found that two names had appeared twice on the passenger list. They also confirmed that another person listed on the manifest did not board the vessel before departure.
Based on the revised data, 58 people survived, three people died, and 15 remain missing.
Rescue teams continue searching for those who are still unaccounted for.
Authorities said two of the three recovered victims have not yet been identified.
The South Sulawesi Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team is conducting forensic examinations to establish their identities.
Officials said rescuers found one victim wearing a life jacket from KM Nurul Salsa. They recovered the other victim as partial human remains.
The ferry sank in waters off the Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi. Authorities have not yet released the final cause of the accident.
