Jakarta, ThedailyID — Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday has generated US$16.5 million in advance ticket sales, even though the film will not debut until December 18, 2026.
According to Variety, ticket sales opened on July 20 for premium-format screenings at about 1,000 theaters across North America.
The film will launch in more than 4,000 theaters across North America when it premieres in December.
Disney sources said audiences have already bought most premium-format tickets for December 17 and 18. Theater chains have responded by adding more screenings during the Christmas holiday period.
The early sales do not include IMAX tickets. Dune: Part Three secured exclusive access to IMAX screens for its first three weeks because both films open on the same day.
Industry analysts expect Avengers: Doomsday to deliver one of the biggest openings of 2026. Its first-day ticket sales have already doubled the opening pre-sale figures for Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024.
The story takes place 14 months after Thunderbolts*. It unites the Avengers, Wakanda, the New Avengers of Earth-616, the Fantastic Four from Earth-828, and the original X-Men against Doctor Doom.
Marvel also confirmed a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes. The film runs longer than Avengers: Infinity War but remains shorter than Avengers: Endgame.
Directors Joe Russo and Anthony Russo return to lead the project. They will also direct Avengers: Secret Wars, which will arrive in 2027 and conclude the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga.
Cinema owners expect the film to perform strongly because Avengers: Endgame became a global phenomenon in 2019. That film earned US$357 million domestically during its opening weekend and collected US$1.2 billion worldwide.
Avengers: Doomsday will open in theaters on December 18, 2026.
